August Winter (they/he) is an actor, screenwriter, musician and acting coach. They centre all of their work around creating and sharing stories that bring us closer to the truth of the human experience.
August is known for their role in Sarah Polley’s Oscar winning film Women Talking, as well as their role as a series regular in CTV’s Mary Kills People. They can be seen in their upcoming role in Orphan Black: Echoes.
August is currently in development with their feature film Dark Room. They are grateful to have received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts to complete this project.
August has extensive experience as an acting coach and makes it their mission to create safe environments for artists to explore their own unique strengths and capacity.
August also has a passion for story editing and dramaturg work, and has recently worked on Tavia Christina's new piece STSISG as a consultant, which was in residency at the Woodland Farm Artist Residency.
August is proud to be the program director for Spindle Films Mentorship Program, an organization that supports transgender, non-binary and gender diverse filmmakers in Canada.
August is anchored by creating community with other queer and trans artists in the process of collaboration.
